BuzzFeed Picture Editor Asks For New UK News Editor To Be Added To CEN Alerts

This 5 March 2014 email records a BuzzFeed picture editor asking CEN to add BuzzFeed’s new UK news editor to the CEN email alerts, with the CEN reply noting that there was no visible CC address in the message. The document is significant because it shows BuzzFeed not only discussing buying from CEN, but actively asking for one of its UK editorial staff to be added to CEN’s news alert system. In the wider evidence chain, it helps document BuzzFeed’s ordinary client-side interest in receiving CEN material before the later hostile investigation and public allegations. Read alongside the February 2014 buying enquiry and the 2013 CEN image-licensing and invoicing records, it shows BuzzFeed engaging with CEN as a useful editorial supplier before later presenting the agency as an unreliable source of viral content.
