Picture Editor Tells CEN He Is Moving From HuffPost/AOL UK To BuzzFeed UK

This 9 December 2013 email records Matt Tucker informing CEN contacts that he was leaving the picture desk at HuffPost UK/AOL UK to become picture editor at BuzzFeed UK from 16 December 2013. Tucker says he had saved CEN’s contact details, gives his new BuzzFeed email address, asks CEN to update its contacts, and adds: “I hope to work with you again in my new BuzzFeed UK role in 2014.” The document is significant because it helps explain how the BuzzFeed/CEN working relationship developed before the later allegations: a picture editor who already knew CEN from a previous media role actively carried that relationship into BuzzFeed UK. In the wider evidence chain, it should be read as the starting point for the subsequent BuzzFeed/CEN buying, licensing, alert and rights-clearance records, showing that BuzzFeed’s access to CEN material did not arise accidentally or only through later investigation. It began as an ordinary editorial supply relationship brought into BuzzFeed by a picture-desk contact who expected to continue working with CEN in his new role.
