Craig Silverman Debunking Article – Werner And Viralgranskaren

Screenshot of Craig Silverman’s February 2015 article, “Lessons from debunking efforts in journalism and beyond,” in which Silverman discusses contemporary debunking and fact-checking projects and highlights Jack Werner’s work with Viralgranskaren in Sweden. The article is included as a Source Library record because it shows the public connection between Silverman and Werner shortly before the BuzzFeed/CEN investigation, and places both men inside the same emerging media culture of viral-hoax exposure, fake-news debunking and online verification. It is relevant to the book’s account of how figures with reputations as fake-news investigators came together around CEN-originated stories, while questions about rivalry, attribution, disclosure and editorial fairness were left largely unexamined.
