BuzzFeed's Mark Schoofs Gets Harlem Townhouse For 2.25 Million

Screenshot of an August 2015 property article, “BuzzFeed Editor Picks Up a $2.25M Harlem Townhouse,” reporting that Mark Schoofs, then BuzzFeed News’ investigations and projects editor, had bought a two-family townhouse in Harlem. The article describes the property as a recently built six-floor home with two units, balconies, a terrace, roof deck, patio and garden, and also notes Schoofs’ background at the Wall Street Journal and Village Voice, including his Pulitzer Prize, before quoting Ben Smith’s 2013 statement that Schoofs had been hired to combine BuzzFeed’s energy and social-web reach with American investigative reporting. This entry is included as a Source Library record for the book’s discussion of BuzzFeed’s effort to recruit high-profile investigative names, the credibility those hires brought to the company’s news project, and Schoofs’ later relevance as a senior BuzzFeed investigations figure who was present in the wider editorial environment around the CEN investigation.
