This archived screenshot preserves Matthew Inman’s own response on The Oatmeal to Jack Stuef’s BuzzFeed article “The Secrets Of The Internet’s Most Beloved Viral Marketer”. The screenshot is significant because, unlike the later Gigaom report about BuzzFeed’s partial apology, this item shows the target of the BuzzFeed piece directly rebutting the article and taking apart its claims. Inman accused BuzzFeed of relying on wrong and misleading information, including material apparently drawn from a fake social media profile, and described the article as so badly flawed that it bordered on libel.
