Google Alert Showing Additional CEN Stories Reviewed By Craig Silverman

This document is a 4 December 2014 Google Alert received by Craig Silverman containing CEN-linked Austrian Times stories, including “One Legged Man Beats The Rest To Get The Girl And The Job” and “Sick Mum Sedated After Trying To Eat Baby”. It is included in the Source Library as source/evidence material connected to the BuzzFeed/CEN case and the later examination of how BuzzFeed’s published sample of CEN stories was assembled. It records one of the additional CEN-linked stories being monitored or reviewed by Silverman months before publication, outside the final group of 41 stories later used by BuzzFeed to support its public fake-news percentages. It is relevant because it helps show that BuzzFeed’s final sample was drawn from a wider pool of CEN material being searched, filtered and assessed, while stories that did not support the fake-news narrative were not included in the published statistical picture.
