Robert Colvile Sends Heidi Blake CEN Draft Crediting Alan White And “Pat” As Contributors

This 25 March 2015 email shows BuzzFeed UK news director Robert Colvile sending Heidi Blake a CEN draft attachment titled “CEN Draft Tom Edit 1.docx” and saying: “Alan and Pat have put together this draft which I’m going through now.” The document is a limited but useful attribution and draft-process record because it identifies another person, “Pat”, as having worked on the CEN draft even though the final published article was credited only to Alan White and Tom Phillips. Colvile also says Tom’s comments are in purple and that he is reconciling the material into a “finalish doc” with an action list for items to chase, check or expand, making the email relevant to the internal editing and verification trail. It should be read alongside the wider 25 March 2015 draft-review chain involving Heidi Blake, Craig Silverman and Robert Colvile, because it helps document the broader group of BuzzFeed staff involved in shaping, checking and preparing the CEN article before publication.
