This 7 April 2015 email chain shows BuzzFeed preparing the formal front-up/right-to-reply letter to Mike Leidig while already expecting the CEN article to move towards publication. Alan White says he has had no reply from Leidig and that, if BuzzFeed is going ahead with the front-up letter, it needs input from Craig Silverman, Tom Phillips, Mark Lewis and Heidi Blake. He also says he does not “really think” the proposed response time is fair. The document is significant because it shows BuzzFeed already preparing for an imminent publication timetable in early April, while internally recognising that the time being offered to respond to a large and complex set of allegations may not be fair.
