BuzzFeed Picture Editor Says CEN Alerts Are “Swamping” His Inbox

This 18 July 2014 email shows BuzzFeed picture editor Matthew Tucker telling the BuzzFeed UK news team that he is taking himself off the CEN email alerts because “the CEN ones are swamping my inbox”, while asking colleagues to continue watching the material and forward anything they “fancy” for purchasing. The document is significant because it records BuzzFeed receiving a high volume of CEN material directly and treating that flow as a practical editorial supply line, even if individual items still had to be selected and bought. It should be read alongside other BuzzFeed/CEN documents showing BuzzFeed staff discussing, forwarding and approving CEN stories, because it helps document the gap between later attempts to distance BuzzFeed from being a CEN client and the internal reality of regular, prolific CEN content being received and monitored by BuzzFeed’s own newsroom.
