Email forwarded by Tomasz Orynski to BuzzFeed lawyer Kate Bolger in December 2016, containing a January 2014 reply from Sara Nelson of The Huffington Post UK about the “drunk Santa” article. Tomasz had written to complain that the story was untrue and to ask where it had come from. In his complaint, he framed the issue as part of a campaign against British press coverage that he said blackened Poland and Polish people. The Huffington Post replied that the article had been supplied by Central European News Limited and that it had contacted CEN. While awaiting a response, Huffington Post removed the article as a gesture of goodwill. It expressly stated that removal should not be treated as an admission of liability by AOL UK Limited and reserved its rights. The document is useful because it shows Tomasz did make a brief attempt to challenge one non-MailOnline publication, but also that Huffington Post avoided a wider debate and removed the article without accepting liability.
